GROOMING AND APPEARANCE It is important
for all individuals in the school community to present a good
appearance. This shows respect for each other and for one's self. Pride
in one's appearance is important in academic and professional settings.
DRESS Upon arrival for school and departure from school grounds,
students must be dressed in a collared dress shirt, tie, dress trousers,
dress shoes, and socks. A sport coat is required during school hours
(8:25 AM - 2:45 PM) from October 1st through April 30th. Students who
fail to bring a tie to school may rent one, but will be issued a
discipline slip for the oversight. Extreme styles must be avoided.
Neither tennis/athletic/canvas shoes nor any kind of outdoor boot will
be permitted in the school building during school hours. The only
exception to this policy with regard to tennis shoes only will be
physical education classes or a medical reason which must be submitted
to the Dean's office. During winter months, students may wear cold
weather boots to school but must change into dress shoes upon arrival at
school. Boots must be stored in the school locker. No hats are to be
worn in the school building—before, during, and after school. Dress
shirts and turtlenecks (mock turtlenecks are not acceptable) must be
tucked into a student's pants. This is required both before and during
school. Flannel shirts and any denim clothing are not permitted.
Earrings are not permitted, nor any camouflage of an earring. Letter
winners may wear the approved St. Francis letter sweater in place of a
suit or sport coat all day on Mondays and Fridays. Interpretation of the
dress code will be at the discretion of the Dean of Students. From:
